We usually have volunteers leading hikes and offering birding events every month in Myles Standish State Forest. Newcomers interested in helping to lead hikes, bike rides, or birding events should attend several of those events to meet some of our members. Check out our Meetup events page to find out when the next one is occurring.
If you are interested in setting out and monitoring bluebird boxes
Verifying vernal pools, which includes mucking about in the early spring to look for egg masses and other evidence required for certification.
Clearing, pruning, brushing back and blazing trails
Or serving on our board to help with other projects we are doing in the Forest-- like helping with our annual fishing derby, those opportunities are usually listed on Meetup too at the appropriate time of year..
We would love to have your help in any or all of these areas.
If there is something else you would like to do, please contact us by emailing us at friends@friendsmssf.com to indicate your area of interest. Once you have attended several of our events, you might want to attend one of our monthly board meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday of most months. (Again, please see the Meetup for the next coming meeting.)
